PDF Editor

This free online PDF editor lets you add text, highlights, freehand marks and a drawn signature directly onto a PDF, page by page, and download the result — all without installing software, creating an account, or uploading the document anywhere. It fills the gap between a PDF viewer, which only lets you read a document, and a full desktop PDF editor, which is usually paid software: the handful of edits people actually need most often — annotate a point, highlight a clause, sign a form, jot a note in the margin — done in the browser, for free, in a couple of minutes.

What sets this editor apart from most free "edit PDF" tools online is how it makes those edits. A lot of browser-based PDF tools work by rendering every page as a flat image and rebuilding the whole document from pictures — which means any real text the original PDF had stops being selectable or searchable the moment you touch it. This editor instead writes your additions directly onto the original PDF's existing pages using true PDF drawing operations, the same category of operation a native desktop PDF editor uses. The document's original text, images and vector content are left completely untouched; your text, highlights, drawings and signature are added as new, genuine PDF content sitting on top of it.

Every page renders as an editable canvas the moment you upload a PDF, with a small toolbar above it: switch to Add Text and click anywhere on the page to drop a text box you can type directly into, pick Highlight and drag out a semi-transparent colored rectangle over anything you want to call attention to, or choose Draw for freehand marks — circling a figure, underlining a line, sketching an arrow. A dedicated Sign tool opens a blank pad you draw your signature into with a mouse or a finger on a touchscreen; once drawn, that signature can be dropped onto the current page or reused again on other pages without redrawing it, and every added text box, highlight and signature can be dragged to reposition it or removed with a single click. A color palette applies to whichever tool is active, and a font-size control appears for text.

For a multi-page document, a simple page counter with next/previous controls lets you move through the PDF and add different annotations to each page — everything you've added stays attached to its own page and gets applied correctly when you export. When you're done, Download builds a new PDF with every annotation baked in as real page content, ready to send, print or file, entirely from work done inside your browser.
