Background Remover

The background remover uses an AI segmentation model — the open-source U²-Net network — to detect the main subject of your photo and cut it out from everything behind it in a single pass. Rather than tracing a rough outline the way a magic-wand or color-based selection tool does, the model has been trained on millions of images to recognize what a subject actually looks like, so it handles fine detail like hair, fur, glasses and semi-transparent edges far better than a manual selection ever could.

Once the background is gone, you're left with a transparent PNG you can drop onto any color, photo or design without a visible edge, halo or leftover fringe. That makes it useful for e-commerce listings, profile pictures, YouTube thumbnails, presentation slides, print materials and marketing graphics — anywhere you need the subject on its own, without opening a full image editor or hiring someone to do it by hand.

Processing runs on our server rather than in your browser, so it works the same way on a phone as it does on a laptop, and it isn't limited by how much memory your device has. The photo you upload is used only to produce your result and is deleted from the server shortly after processing completes — we don't keep copies, train on your images, or share them with anyone.

The tool works best on photos where the subject is reasonably well lit and stands out from its surroundings — a person against a wall, a product on a table, an animal in a yard. Extremely low-contrast scenes (a white product on a white background, for example) or very busy, cluttered backgrounds can occasionally trip up any automated model, but for the vast majority of everyday photos the result is clean enough to use immediately.
